Julia Ancybell "Julie" McClure was born August 12, 1896, in White County, Arkansas, the daughter of Dode McClure and Eliza Jones.
Julie married (first) Major Harrison Jordon on July 3, 1915, at Formosa, in Van Buren County, Arkansas. (The marriage is recorded in Van Buren County Marriage Book 11, page 154.) Major Jordon was born March 16, 1897, on Culpepper Mountain, in Van Buren County, Arkansas, the son of John Fredrick Jordan and his 2nd wife, Parity Catherine "Rita" Eades.
John Jordon was born April 28, 1845, in Georgia and died December 16, 1930, in Van Buren County. Rita Eades was born February 14, 1858, in Van Buren County and died October 30, 1914, in Van Buren County. Rita was the daughter of Jacob Allen Eades (b. 1828, TN; d. 1918, Van Buren Co; bur. Brickey Cem, Van Buren Co) and Mary A. "Polly" Brickey (b. 1831, AR; d. 1898, Van Buren Co; bur. Brickey Cem, Van Buren Co). Rita's sister, Catherine Louisa Eades Drake, was the mother of Jimmy Drake, who married Julie's sister, Georgie McClure. John and Rita (Eades) Jordon are both buried in Halbrook Cemetery, in Conway County. Their children were: Martha Elizabeth Jordon (b. 1893); Mary Harriet Jordon (b. 1895); Major Harrison Jordon (b. 1897) and John H. Jordon (b. 1900).
John Jordon's 1st wife was Emaline C. Eatmon, who he married about 1869, in Mississippi. Emaline Eatmon was born about 1846, in Mississippi and died about October 1887, in Arkansas. Their children were: Almedia Virginia Jordon (b. 1870); W. L. Jordon (b. 1873); John Lem Jordon (b. 1878); Andrew Jackson Jordon (b. 1880); Emma Jordon (b. 1883) and Patrick Moses Jordon (b. 1887). Several of these individuals are buried in Halbrook Cemetery.
Julie and Major settled at Culpepper in Van Buren County after their marriage. They appear on the 1920 Van Buren County census, in Culpepper Township. Listed with Major and Julie was their daughter Bernice S., age 1 1/2 years. Living with the family was William C. McClure, brother-in-law, age 18 and Susie I. McClure, sister-in-law, age 11.
The 1930 Van Buren County census, Craig Township, shows Major Jourdon, 33, rented his farm, born in Arkansas, father and mother both born in Georgia; Julia, 35; Bernice, 11; Vernia, 9 and Alma, 8 years old.
Major and Julie divorced about 1932. Major married Mrs. Lou Ella Clowers Jordon on May 25, 1933, in Conway County, Arkansas. Ella Clowers Jordon was the widow of Major's nephew, Ira Jordon, who was born about 1902 and died May 23, 1931, in Conway County. (Ira was the son of Andrew Jackson Jordon, Major's half-brother.) Ella Clowers, born June 2, 1903, in Center Ridge, in Conway County, was the daughter of John Franklin Clowers and Annie Bell Oliger. Ella and Ira had three children: Farrell O. Jordon, Virgie Dale Jordon and Jewell Jordon. We have been told that Major and Ella had children, but we do not know this for a fact. Major died November 29, 1957, in Sikeston, Missouri. Ella died January 1979, in Sikeston.
Julie married (2nd) Edward B. Hall on October 30, 1940, at Scotland, in Van Buren County. Ed Hall was born November 28, 1906, in Van Buren County. He was the son of Elijah Hall and Erie Phillips, who married April 7, 1896, at Scotland, in Van Buren County.
Elijah Hall, born about 1861, in Arkansas and died 1920-1930, in Van Buren County, was the son of Robert Hall (b. 1827, NC; d. 1926, Scotland, Van Buren Co; bur. Foster Cem. near Scotland) and Ann Catherine Moore (b. 1835, VA; d. 1926, Scotland; bur. Foster Cem.). Erie Phillips, born July 21, 1868, in Georgia and died March 29, 1941, in Van Buren County, was the daughter of Justice A. Phillips and Sarah Ann Henderson. Their children were: Beatrice Vivian Hall (b. 1897); Massey Ray Hall (b. 1899); Leona G. Hall (b. 1902); Essie M. Hall (b. 1904); Elijah Hope Hall (b. abt Dec 1905); Edward B. Hall (b. 1906) and Vernia B. Hall (b. 1912).
Ed Hall died December 20, 1970, at Scotland, in Van Buren County. Julie died June 26, 1984, in Van Buren County. They are buried in Culpepper Cemetery. Julie and Ed Hall had no children.

1. Bernice Sybil Jordon, b. July 26, 1918, Formosa, Van Buren Co, AR; d. Sept 12, 1997, Green River, Sweetwater Co, WY; m. Willard F. Garner on May 26, 1936. Willard, b. Mar 31, 1914, Scotland, Van Buren Co; d. Dec 26, 1988, Evanston, Uinta Co, WY, was the son of Thomas Jefferson Garner (b. 1878, GA; d. 1934, Van Buren Co) and Martha Jane Henson (b. 1878, AL; d. 1958, AR). Thomas and Martha's children were: Roscoe Elvin Garner (b. 1901), Virgil Lonnie Garner (b. 1902), Cora Effie Garner (b. 1905), Oswald G. Garner (b. 1907), Aurilla Martin Garner (b. 1909), Elmer J. Garner (b. 1912), Willard F. Garner (b. 1914), Lydes J. Garner (b. 1918) and Essie M. Garner (b. 1923). Willard Garner was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in World War II. Bernice and Willard moved their family to WY, where they ran a resort, and raised their family. They had several children including: Julia Ann Garner, b. & d. Sept 13, 1955, Sikeston, Scott Co, MO.
2. Verna Jordon, b. June 30, 1920, Formosa, Van Buren Co, AR; d. May 7, 2008, Fairfield Bay, Van Buren Co; m. Clarence Idus "Slim" Russell on Jan. 19, 1943, in Sikeston, MO. Slim Russell, b. July 28, 1915, Lamar, AR; d. Jan. 19, 1963, Sikeston, MO, was the son of John Henry Russell (b. 1882, AR; d. 1962) and Nellie A. Dunn (b. 1891, AR; d. 1959, Scott Co, MO). Verna and Slim lived in MO for many years. Children: (1) Brenda Mavrene Russell, (2) Renda Gail Russell, (3) Clarence Dean Russell, (4) Randy Joe Russell, (5) Rhonda Joan Russell, (6) Benny Lynn Russell and (7) Rickey Neal Russell.
3. Alma Jordon, b. Sept 18, 1921, Formosa, Van Buren Co, AR; d. Sept 6, 1993, Clinton, Van Buren Co; bur. Halbrook Cem. in Conway Co, AR; m. John J. Shipley in 1942, Van Buren Co. John was b. Sept 13, 1917; d. July 15, 1978; bur. Halbrook Cem. John was the son of William M. Shipley (b. 1884, Formosa, AR; d. 1955, Formosa; bur. Halbrook Cem, Conway Co) and Leona Gertrude Lawrance (b. 1886, AR; d. 1921, AR; bur. Halbrook Cem). William and Gertrude Shipley's children were: Chester Orville Shipley (b. 1907), William Oliver Shipley (b. 1910), Lula M. Shipley (b. 1913), Beatrice L. Shipley (b. 1915) and John J. Shipley (b. 1917). John Shipley had polio when he was about 3 years old and it left him with a bad foot. He ran a local garage at Formosa all of his adult life. He wasn't able to serve in WWII, but he wanted to do his part, so he volunteered his services at Camden, AR, during the war, working on the Armed Forces Vehicles. John was a cousin to Thelma Pearl Shipley who married Alma's uncle, Luther Conway McClure. They had one son and one daughter.
