John Wesley Hagens

John Wesley Hagens was born December 3, 1863 in Indiana, the son of John Hagens and Mary Elizabeth Martin.

John married Margaret M. Massey on March 10, 1892, at New Madrid, Missouri. Margaret Massey was born March 10, 1874, in Missouri. The family lived in Missouri for a time before moving to Iowa prior to 1908.

The 1910 Muscatine County, Iowa census shows the family in Bloomington Township. The census shows John Hagon, 30, married one time, born in Indiana; Magie, 33, married one time for 12 years, given birth to 5 children, 4 children still living, born in Missouri; Sylvester, 10, born in Missouri; Nellie, 8, born in Iowa; Gladis, 7, born in Iowa; Hubert, 1, born in Iowa. Living with them was John's younger brother, Jeff Hagens, 35, single, born in Indiana. Living next door was the family of Grant and Mary (Wren) Cooley. Mary was the daughter of John's half-sister Mary Jane Martin Wren.

The 1920 Muscatine County census shows the family still in Bloomington Township.

John died in 1944, at Muscatine, Iowa. Margaret died there in 1953. They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery at Muscatine.
