Leonidas Armstead Sypert was born December 5, 1832, at Lebanon, in Wilson County, Tennessee, the son of Hardy Sanders Sypert and Ann (Rogers) Donelson.
Leonidas attended Cumberland University, School of Law, at Lebanon. He served as a Colonel in Greene's Cumberland Battery during the Civil War.
Leonidas married Martha Douglas Henry on June 30, 1868, in Wilson County. Martha Henry was born February 2, 1850, the daughter of Major Robert William Henry and Martha Douglas Cocke.
Leonidas and Martha settled in Kentucky.
Leonidas died March 23, 1893, and is buried on a farm near Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Martha died January 29, 1924, and is buried in Riverside Cemetery at Hopkinsville.
