Mary Scypert

Mary Scypert was born in 1792, in North Carolina, the daughter of Robert Scypert and Isabella (last name unknown).

Mary married James B. Anderson on July 9, 1812, in Warren County, Tennessee. James Anderson was born August 16, 1792, in Virginia, the son of James Anderson, who came to America from Ireland or Sweden before the Revolutionary War. The Anderson family settled in Wayne County, Tennessee, prior to 1818. James B. had a sister, Nancy Anderson, who married Mary's cousin, John William Cypert, son of Robert's brother, Francis Cypert II, and Abigail Johnson.

James Anderson served in the War of 1812, in Capt. Hill's Tennessee Militia, for which he later received a pension and two 80-acre warrants of land for his services.

James and Mary raised their children in Wayne County, Tennessee. About 1851, James, Mary and the majority of their children and their families moved to Arkansas.

James died July 16, 1875, in Stone County, Arkansas. Mary applied for a widows pension. Her application was witnessed by Joseph Hixon, of Melbourne, Arkansas, and Samuel T. Cypert, T. D. Martin, and John Kerley.

Mary died August 2, 1879, in Stone County.
