Malinda Catherine "Sissy" Stanfield was born December 15, 1861, at Houston, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of John A. Stanfield and Elizabeth Jane Copeland.
Malinda married Jesse Newton Thompson on May 28, 1882, at Martins Mill, in Wayne County. Jesse Newton Thompson was born May 3, 1852, in Wayne County, the son of Charles Malone Thompson and Edna Paulk.
Jesse and Malinda settled in the Martins Mill area of Wayne County. About 1891, the family moved to Cerro Gordo, in Hardin County, Tennessee. About 1889, they moved to Pemiscot County, Missouri. Jesse died February 1905, in Pemiscot County. Malinda died there July 16, 1942. They are buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, Pemiscot County, Missouri.
