Orville Tolbert Horton was born August 24, 1912, at Tilly, in Pope County, Arkansas. He was the son of Will Horton and Effie Harmon.
Orville married Elon Irene Groom on January 5, 1935, in Conway County, Arkansas. Elon Groom was born May 24, 1914, the daughter of Robert Fulton Groom and Susan Reddeck.
Orville was a farmer and in later years an insurance salesman. He moved his family to Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, during the late 1950's. The family returned to Conway County in the mid 1960's. Orville was seriously injured in a vehicle accident during the early to mid 1960's, from which he never fully recovered.
Orville was an accomplished self-taught musician. He played the guitar, violin and piano. He and his sisters, during their growing up years, formed a singing group.
Orville died September 16, 1968, in Conway County. He is buried in Friendship Cemetery near Solgohachia, in Conway County.
Elon later married a Mr. Shaw and lived in Conway County.
Elon died February 28, 1999, and is buried in Friendship Cemetery.
