Robert Stooksberry was born December 23, 1847, in Anderson County, Tennessee, the son of Samuel Stooksberry and Sarah Sharp.
Robert married Saphronia Josephine Horton on January 5, 1879, in Wayne County, Tennessee. Saphronia Horton was born October 31, 1858, in Tennessee, the daughter of Isaac James Horton and Louretta Ayers. Saphronia died August 14, 1882, in Tennessee. She is buried in the Isaac Horton Cemetery in Wayne County.
After Saphronia's death, Robert married Malinda Elizabeth "Alice" Horton. Alice was born May 27, 1864, in Tennessee, the daughter of Peter Gales Horton and Sarah Margaret Ayers. Peter Gales Horton and Isaac James Horton were brothers, both sons of Nathaniel Horton and Malinda Atkinson. Sapahronia and Alice were first cousins.
Robert died October 20, 1896, in Wayne County and is buried in the Isaac Horton Cemetery. Alice died August 24, 1918, and is probably also buried in the Isaac Horton Cemetery.
