Sampson D. Bridgman

 Sampson D. Bridgman was born February 1863, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of William Calvin Bridgman and Matilda Prock.

The 1870 and 1880 Wayne County census shows Sam at home with his parents and siblings.

Sam married Welthy Morgan on October 28, 1881, in Wayne County, Kentucky.  Welthy Morgan was born September 1862, in Wayne County, the daughter of Tillman Morgan (b. Mar 1836, Wayne Co, KY; d. Mar 1915, Wayne Co) and Cyrena Jane Upchurch (b. June 1845, Wayne Co, KY; d. Aug 1909, Wayne Co).

Sampson was named in his father's will, dated August 5, 1896.

The 1900 Wayne County census shows Sam Bridgman, born Feb 1863, 37, married 18 years, farmer; Welthy, wife, born Sept 1862, 39, had given birth to 3 children, 3 children were still living; Charly, son, born Oct 1889, 10; John M., son, born Mar 1892, 8 and Carol, son, born  Apr 1894, 6 years old.

The 1910 Wayne County census shows Sam D. Bridgman, 48, married 30 years, a farmer who rented his farm; Welthy, wife, 48, had given birth to 6 children, 5 children were still living; Charley, son, 21, farm laborer; John M., son, 18, farm laborer; Carl, son, 14, farm laborer; Ella, daughter, 9 and Carlo, son, 6 years old.

The 1920 Wayne County census shows Sampy Bridgeman, 53, US mail carrier; Wealthy, wife, 58; John, son, 26, oil field laborer and Carlo, son, 15, farm laborer on horse farm.   Their son Charley and his family were living next to Sam's family.

The 1930 Wayne County census shows S. D. Bridgman, owned property, 62, farmer; Welthy, wife, 68 and Carlo, son, 27, single, a farmer.

Welthy died March 10, 1932.   Sam died June 4, 1944, in Wayne County.
