William O. Bridgman was born July 22, 1854, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of William Calvin Bridgman and Matilda Prock.
William married Mary F. Carter on June 2, 1877 in Wayne County, Kentucky. Mary Carter was born February 15, 1854, in Kentucky, the daughter of Edmon B. Carter and Cyrena Evaline Bean.
Edmon Carter was born June 24, 1824, in Tennessee and died between 1881 and 1900. He married Evaline Bean in 1846, in Tennessee. Evaline Bean was born 1822, in Tennessee and died 1871-1879, in Kentucky. They appear on the 1850 Wayne County, Kentucky; 1860 Clinton County, Kentucky and 1870 Fentress County, Tennessee ceusus. Edmon married Drucilla ____ prior to 1880. Drucilla was born July 1829, in Kentucky. Edmon and Drucilla appear on the 1880 Metcalfe County, Kentucky census. Drucilla appears on the 1900 Shelby County, Iowa census living with her niece Mary E. Rank and family. Edmon and Evaline's children included: (1) James Earl Carter, b. 1847; m. Anna Eliza Bridgman; (2) William Russell Carter, b. 1848; (3) Luverna Carter, b. 1850; m. James F. Bridgman; (4) Elizabeth "Bettie" Carter, b. 1852; (5) Mary F. Carter, b. 1854; (6) Darcas Carter, b. 1858; (7) Malissa Jane Carter, b. 1859 and (8) Sarah E. Carter, b. 1862.
The 1880 Wayne County, Kentucky census shows William Brigman, 23, farmer; Mary, 22, wife; Liza A., 2, daughter and Ealey C., 1, daughter.
Mary died in childbirth on February 23, 1883, in Wayne County. William and Mary had at least four children.
William married Amanda C. Daniel on November 11, 1883, in Wayne County. Amanda Daniel was born March 22, 1868, in Wayne County, the daughter of Solomon Daniel (b. 1823, TN; d. 1909, Wayne Co, KY) and Elizabeth Ragan (b. 1837, VA; d. 1910, KY).
Amanda died November 5, 1896, in Wayne County. William and Amanda had at least three children.
William married Elizabeth "Bettie" Carter in late 1899, in Wayne County. Bettie Carter was born October 1852, in Kentucky, the daughter of Edmon B. Carter and Cyrena Evaline Bean. She was a sister to William's first wife. The 1900 census indicates Bettie was married prior to her marriage to William and had several children from that marriage.
William was named in his father's will, dated August 5, 1896.
The 1900 Wayne County census shows William Bridgman, born Dec 1852, 48, married less than one year, farmer; Bettie, wife, born Oct 1853, 47, married less than one year, had given birth to 10 children, 9 children were still living; Lucy A., daughter, born Aug 1885, 14; Kessie M., daughter, born Mar 1889, 11 and Ohio, son, born Dec 1890, 9 years old. Living with the family was Dora M. Bridgman, step-daughter, born Dec 1888, 11 and Oscar Bridgman, step-son, born Mar 1892, 8 years old. The step-children were listed with the last name Bridgman. At this time we are unsure if that was their surname or if the census taker merely listed them by that name. William and Bettie had no children.
William died June 28, 1909, in Wayne County.
