Hazine J. "Zenia" Bridgman was born September 3, 1882, near Timbo, in Stone County, Arkansas. She was the youngest child of William T. Bridgman and Dicey Jane Maxey.
Hazine was not quite three years old when her mother died in 1885, and was only five when her father died two years later. The court of Stone County awarded guardianship of the minor children of William T. to Rufus M. Broyles of Stone County. The children were separated and taken in by several Broyles families.
The 1900 Stone County, Sylamore Township census shows Zenia living with the Rufus M. Broyles family. Her sister Mary Jane was living nearby with the Wise Broyles family and her brother Henry was boarding with the James Broyles family.
Hazine married Robert Daniel Sutterfield on March 3, 1906, at Landis, in Searcy County, Arkansas.
Robert Sutterfield, born November 13, 1882, at Landis, was the son of Samuel Peter Sutterfield and Martha Elizabeth Massey.
Hazine and Robert settled in Searcy County, near Landis to make their home. The 1910 Searcy County census shows Robert D. Sutterfield, 27, married 4 years, a farmer; Hazenia, 26, had given birth to 3 children, all 3 children still living; Ulyssis, 4; Dessie, 2 and William, 8 months old.
Hazine died December 19, 1912, at Landis, shortly after the birth of their last child, who also died. Hazine is buried in Landis Cemetery with her two infant babies.
Robert married Nettie Lucinda Jane Massey on September 19, 1913, in Searcy County. Nettie Massey was born October 16, 1894, in Searcy County, the daughter of Robert Perry Massey and Nellie Catherine Martin. Seven children were born to this union: (1) Harold B. Sutterfield, (2) Fred Hubert Sutterfield, (3) Mildred Thedocia Sutterfield, (4) Burton P. Sutterfield, (5) Roy Daniel Sutterfield, (6) Katheryn E. Sutterfield and (7) Mattie Marie Sutterfield.
The 1930 Searcy County census, Long Creek Township, shows Robert D. Sutterfield, 47, a farmer who owned his farm; Nettie, 35; Ledford, 23, a farm laborer; Dessie, 22; Harold, 16, a farm laborer; Fred, 14, a farm laborer; Mildred, 10; Burton, 8; Roy D., 6 and Katherine, 2 years old.
The family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1946. Robert died there on July 5, 1959. Nettie died there on April 29, 1995.
