George Washington Bennett

  William Bennett was born about 1765, in Ireland and died about 1815, in New York. William married Miriah (last name unknown), who was born about 1767, in New York and died about 1852. William and Miriah's children included Jeremiah Bennett, Elijah W. Bennett, William Bennett, Margaret Bennett, Benjamin Bennett and George Washington Bennett.

George Washington Bennett was born about 1814, in Tennessee and died about 1865, near Quitman in Van Buren County, Arkansas. He married Nancy Roselea Williams, who was born about 1818, in Tennessee and died after 1870, in Van Buren County.

About 1854, the family moved to Missouri. They moved to Arkansas between 1857 and 1860.

The 1860 Van Buren County, Arkansas census, Cadron Township, shows George Bennett, 46, a farmer, born in Tennessee; Nancy, 42, born in Tennessee; Margaret, 14, born in Tennessee; Eliza, 12, born in Tennessee; Alonzo, 8, born in Tennessee; Joseph, 6, born in Missouri; and George, 4, born in Missouri. The census shows George had real property valued at $1000 and personal property valued at $187.

  Listed next to George on the 1860 Van Buren County census was their son, William Bennett, age 25, a farmer, with real estate valued at $600 and personal property valued at $270.

Living next door to William was another son, James Bennett, age 23, a farmer, born in Tennessee. His real property is valued at $240.

 Living on the other side of George Bennett on the 1860 census was the James Bly family. George's son, John Bennett, 21, a laborer, born in Tennessee was living with the Bly family.

George died about 1865, near Quitman, in Van Buren County. Nancy died about 1870 in Van Buren County.
