John Edmondson Garfield "Ed" Horton was born January 22, 1882, in Searcy County, Arkansas. He was the son of John Ellison Horton and Sarah Jane Woody. Ed was the first of John and Sarah Jane's children that was born in Arkansas.
Ed grew up in Searcy County, near Nogo. He married Irene Victoria Brewer on January 7, 1903, in Searcy County. Victoria Brewer was born December 1, 1883, in Arkansas.
The first four of Ed and Victoria's children were born in Pope County, Arkansas. About 1911, Ed moved his family to Missouri. They lived near Norwood and Mountain Grove, Missouri, for a time. Ed moved his family to Escondido, California, about 1926, where he was a citrus farmer.
Ed died at Escondido August 10, 1967, and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Victoria died there July 21, 1973, and is also buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
