James Isaac Bridgman was born February 1860, in Walker County, Georgia, the son of William T. Bridgman and Elizabeth Stanfield. James Isaac was named for his two grandfathers, James Stanfield and Isaac Bridgman.
The 1860 Walker County census shows James Isaac, age four months, with his parents. About 1861, James Isaac's parents moved to Arkansas, settling in Izard County in the north central part of the state.
James Isaac's mother died about 1868, when James was about 8 years old. His father married twice more while James Isaac was growing up in Izard County.
The 1870 Izard County census shows 10 year old James Isaac with his father, step-mother Martha and his half-brother, John.
James Isaac's father was a farmer and owned several acres of land in Sylamore Township of Izard County. (Note: In 1873, Stone County was formed from that part of Izard County where the Bridgman family lived.)
The 1880 Izard County census shows 20 year old James Isaac with his father, step-mother Dicey and step-brothers, John, Thomas, William and Rufus.
James Isaac married Nancy Teague on July 29, 1885, at Timbo, in Stone County, Arkansas. Nancy Teague was born November 1867, in Arkansas. Nancy was the daughter of James Knox Polk Teague and Eleanor (Elendor) Jane Tipton.
James Polk Teague was born about 1840, in Alabama and died 1871-1879, in Searcy County, Arkansas. He was one of several children born to Silas Joshua Teague (b. abt 1807, TN) and his first wife (name unknown). Eleanor Tipton was born March 10, 1840, in Arkansas and died January 5, 1902, in Van Buren County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Benjamin Tipton (d. about 1848, in AR) and Nancy Caroline Young (b. abt 1815).
James Isaac and Nancy settled in Locust Grove Township of Stone County. James Isaac was a farmer.
The 1900 Stone County census, Timbo Township, shows James, 40, born February 1860, in Georgia; Nancy, 32, born November 1867, in Arkansas; Etty J., 13, born July 1886; Annie A., 9, born July 1890; Mary L., 6, born February 1894; and Aggie, 1, born January 1899.
James Isaac died about 1907, in Stone County.
The 1910 Stone County census, Timbo Township, shows Nancy, 42, a widow, had given birth to 5 children, 5 children still living; Mary L., 16; Aggie, 11 and Veda, 5 years old. We have no other information on Nancy.
