Louis Edwin Bush was born August 29, 1859, in Fulton County, Illinois, the son of Elbridge Gerry Bush and Anna Elizabeth Nichols.
Louis appears with his parents and older brother, Carl, on the 1860 Fulton County census, in Lee Township. Louis is one year old on the census. His brother Carl is two years of age.
The 1870 Fulton County census shows Louis, age 10, with his family in Lee Township.
In late 1870 or very early 1871, the family moved to Winfield, in Henry County, Iowa.
Louis married Annie H. Margaret Adamson on September 1, 1887, in Iowa. Annie Adamson was born May 20, 1865, in Iowa, the daughter of William S. Adamson and Rebeca A. Maiden.
The 1900 Louisa County, Iowa census, Elm Grove Township, shows Louis and his family living in the household with his in-laws, William and Rebecca Adamson. The census shows William Adamson, head, 62, born February 1838, in Ohio, married 37 years, farmer; Rebecca Adamson, wife, 64, born May 1836, in Ohio, married 37 years, given birth to 4 children, 3 children still living; Lewis Bush, son-in-law, 40, born August 1859, in Illinois, married 12 years, a farmer; Anna Bush, daughter, 35, born May 1865, in Iowa, married 12 years, given birth to 4 children, 3 children still living; Esther Bush, granddaughter, 11, born June 1888, in Iowa; Blanche Bush, granddaughter, 8, born March 1992, in Iowa; and Earl Bush, grandson, 6, born June 1893, in Iowa. Living next door was William and Rebeca's son, John Adamson, and his family.
The 1920 Henry County, Iowa census shows Lewis, 60, and Anna, 51. Louis's brother Eugene, age 48, was living next door.
Annie died January 2, 1927, and is buried in the Winfield-Scott Cemetery at Winfield, in Henry County. Louis died September 16, 1950 and is buried beside Annie.
