Rebecca Weatherford was born about 1814, probably in North Carolina, the daughter of William Weatherford and Margaret Ann Polk.
Rebecca's family moved to Wayne County, Tennessee prior to 1815. The 1820 Wayne County census shows Rebecca as a female under the age of 10. The 1830 Wayne County census shows her as a female 15-20 years old.
Rebecca married Green Berry Beckham, Jr.. about 1833, probably in Wayne County. Green Beckham was born in 1814, in Orange County, North Carolina, the son of Green Berry Beckham and Martha Hetty Proctor.
The 1850 Wayne County, Tennessee census, 7th Civil District, shows Green B. Beckham, 34, a farmer, born in North Carolina; Rebecca, 34, born in North Carolina; Jane, 16; Anna, 13; William, 9; Edward, 7; J. W., 4; and James, 1 year old.
Green was a farmer. He also raised Tennessee stock mules. In 1852, Green's son, eleven year old William, went to work for a man from Jefferson County, Illinois, who had purchased a herd of mules from Green, in Wayne County, Tennessee. The man hired William to help drive the mules north to his farm in Jefferson County, Illinois. William remained in Jefferson County, working for the man as a ranch hand. Between 1860 to 1862, Green moved his family to Jefferson County where his son was living.
Green and Rebecca both died about 1875, in Jefferson County, Illinois. They are buried in South Hickory Hills Cemetery, in McClellan Township of Jefferson County.
