Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Stanfield was born about 1817, in Tennessee, the daughter of William "Billy" Stanfield and Mary (last name unknown).
Betsy Ann married Lewis B. Pierce about 1837. Lewis Pierce was born in 1814, in Kentucky.
My thanks to Vicki (Gower) Cragen and Amy (Sutterfield) Adanitsch for contributing the following information on the family and descendants of Betsy Ann and Lewis.
Lewis and Betsy Ann appear with their family on the 1850 Wayne County census. They moved their family to Arkansas, along with Betsy Ann's sister, Lucinda (Stanfield) Talley and her husband Robertson Talley and their family. The 1870 Izard County, Arkansas, census shows Lewis and Betsy Ann's family in Rocky Bayou Township. Living with the family is their married son James Peyton Pierce and his family.
In 1878 the Pierce and Talley families traveled by wagon, pulled by oxen, back to Wayne County, Tennessee, to visit relatives for about a month. They then returned to their homes in Arkansas and never returned to Wayne County.
