Polina "Nancy Ann" Horton was born about 1816, probably in Tennessee. She was the granddaughter of Isaac Horton and Hannah Farris. We believe her father's name was James Horton.
Polina first appears in a pension application made by her grandfather, Isaac Horton in Lawrence County, Tennessee, in 1825. Her age is given as 9 years old in the application.
Polina married John H. "Jackie" Kelley on December 7, 1830, in Lawrence County, Tennessee. Jackie Kelley was born about 1811, in Limestone County, Alabama.
The 1850 Wayne County, Tennessee census shows the family living in the 8th Civil District. Polina is listed as Nancy on the census. The census shows John Kelley, 37, a farmer; Nancy, 37; James, 18; William, 17; Elizabeth, 14; Sarah, 12; Pemna, 11; Nancy, 8; Henderson, 6; Mary, 3; and John H., 1 year old. Living beside Polina is her brother James William Horton and his family.
Jackie and Polina moved their family to Searcy County, Arkansas, about 1851. They settled near Marshall and Canaan, in Searcy County. John Kelley's name appears on the 1851 Searcy County Tax Book for a poll tax paid prior to June 19, 1851.
Polina died in Searcy County before 1870. Jackie died there before 1889.
